EE, the biggest mobile network in Great Britain have launched their very own smartphone. It is incredibly cheap and in terms of smartphones it doesn’t compared to some of the bigger ones produced by Apple, Samsung and Sony, but for just a price tag of £99on Pay As You Go, it isn’t a bad deal by any means.
The phone, known as the EE Kestrel, has currently got an offer that if you buy the handset along with a £10 top up EE will also give you 10GB of free data. You can also get the phone through a contract, with pay monthly prices starting at just £13.99 for 24 months. With this contract, you get 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data for less than £14 a month. That brings the overall cost of the contract to £335.76, but when compared to a whopping £959.76 plus an additional upfront cost for the likes of an iPhone 5c/5s, Sony Xperia Z2 or a Samsung Galaxy S5. That makes a huge saving of £624 over the course of the 24 month contract.
Kestrel runs Android JellyBean software and has a large 4.5” screen along with a powerful 1.2GHz quad core processor. You can also take advantage of EE’s 4G as it is able to handle speeds of up to 150mb. There is a 5MP camera on the rear, capable of capturing HD quality movies as well as a 1 megapixel camera on front for video calls and photos. It comes with 8GB of built in storage as well as there being a Micro SD card slot to add your own external storage. The battery life offers up to 12 hours of talk time and 370 hours when in standby. The device weighs just 145g and the user interface is easy to use, as well as allowing user’s access to a huge range of Android apps.
