Sainsburys’ custom mobile network, Mobile by Sainsburys, has been shortlisted for ‘Best Use of Mobile within a CRM Strategy’ and ‘Best Use of Mobile for Customer Loyalty’ in the Mobile Innovations Awards.
Mobile by Sainsburys was a joint venture between Sainsburys and Vodafone, intended to create a CRM and Loyalty solution for Sainsburys’ family customers. It allows them to gain up to £180 in Nectar card points when a family of four purchases a £10 bundle and links their mobile phone numbers to the family Nectar card. Customers are also awarded double Nectar card points every time they top up from as little as £5.
The venture is one of three projects designed by IMImobile to be shortlisted in the prestigious awards. IMImobile, a leading global provider of end-to-end mobile engagement software and solutions, worked closely with Sainsburys to help it offer a service that sets its mobile network apart in a highly competitive market.
IMImobile’s other shortlisted projects also included its pan-African Universial Music Group streaming service, named ‘The Kleek’. The service allows African mobile users access to a huge range of musical content, including artist, genre and celebrity playlist information; exclusive album previews, artist diaries and chart listings.
The application is shortlisted for the ‘Most Innovative App for Entertainment’ award.
The Mobile Innovations Awards serves to recognise technological excellence in the use of mobile within Europe’s, the Middle East’s and Africa’s commercial sectors. Entries were shortlisted on the basis of innovation that has been proven to lead to increased business and profitability for the clients in question.
On the shortlisting judging panel was Awards Chairperson Sandra Quinn, along with Mastercard Head of Emerging Payments for UK & Ireland, Mike Cowen. Co-Founder and CEO EMEA of mCordis Paul Berney was also present.
